“Female representation on boards in Yorkshire continues to grow, but it’s clear that more must be done to improve equality. Professionals tell Fiona Haran how they’re helping to drive change.

When the final whistle blew at the Women’s Euro 2022 championships to seal England’s victory over Germany, it was a triumph for women everywhere – one that went far beyond football.

It showed that with the right level of investment and support, women can excel at anything. And crucially, if women and girls can envision themselves in a role, it breeds encouragement and thus opportunities. It’s the old adage of ‘if you can see it, you can be it’.

Promisingly, a new UK Female FTSE Board report has found that FTSE 350 companies have continued to meet and exceed the target of 33 per cent of women on boards. However, it adds that there are still too few women in senior leadership positions.”
